Winkworth was established as an upmarket estate agency in 1835 and run by members of the Winkworth family, who then sold the agency in 1967. Since then the Winkworth reputation for expert knowledge and professional service continued to grow and broaden its market appeal, whilst maintaining its upmarket clientele. Then in 1981 with 10 offices in London, a decision was made to franchise the offices in order to maximise the benefits Winkworth could offer its clients.

Winkworth drew on its expert knowledge of the London market to create a unique network of independently owned and operated offices in strategic territories. The offices became established around prime London village locations and enabled Winkworth to match buyers with sellers across the capital.

Over the years Winkworth has gained a reputation for providing guidance to first-time buyers as to the up-and-coming areas, and advice to those seeking to move up the property ladder. With local offices and specialist property knowledge the Winkworth network enables both buyers and sellers to take advantage of our wide coverage and, we hope, find the buying and selling process easier.

With the dynamic growth of London Winkworth's insight has proven astute. The buyer has become more flexible when choosing which area of London he wishes to live.
