I work as a Garden Designer covering Glasgow and Central Scotland. Work includes Garden Design, Project Management, Plants and Planting as well as general garden advice. I work on all sizes of gardens. I regularly write articles for the Horticultural Press in addition to presenting at The Ideal Home and Garden Show and The Glasgow Show and judging at The International Rose Trials in Glasgow.

I am a sole trader but contract out the construction work to a reputable company with whom I've worked for the last 4 years. I regularly use garden related specialists for any related work e.g. electricians, joiners, arborists, garden maintenance etc.

My main business is in Garden Design, Planting Plans, Horticultural advice and journalism. Sometimes clients do not need a design, just some general advice about what to plant and where to put them. I offer a planting service as well as plant supply and I regularly supply and plant various planters e.g. terracotta, stainless steel, GRP, faux lead and wood.

I charge an initial consultation fee which is determined by the time for the consultation and the distance I have to travel. Fees for the designs are determined by the complexity of the design, time spent working on the design and the location. Fixed prices are given for designs after the initial consultation. Other fees are worked out as a percentage of the construction work. Plant supply and planting budgets can be set by the client.
