Staff

Graham Thorne frics fciob has practised in Dorset for over 35 years, advising land owners, private clients local authorities and government agencies, and therefore is one of Dorset's Senior Valuers & Surveyors.

David Quest BSc.(Hons) MRICS attained his degree in Estate Management from Greenwich University in 1991 and qualified with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1995. He has attained a wide range of experience operating across southern England with particular emphasis on commercial valuations and residential development appraisals.

Luke Barents (Dip) DEA started in residential Estate Agency in 1999. Since then he has worked for an established local independent firm and a well known London agent, specialising in sales of Residential & Commercial Land, as well as New and Established Homes. With continued backing from THORNES he qualified as a domestic energy assessor in 2008.

Robert Stephenson FRICS is a building surveyor who has over 25 years surveying experience in Dorset. He carries out bespoke consultancy work, on residential and commercial property as well as supplying hand drawn plans for lease and planning purposes.

Professional Valuations:

The firm carries out valuation work for local authorities and national and local institutions. Valuations are also carried out for probate and disposal purposes together with valuations for private and company purposes. Thornes act for a number of Housing Associations and private individuals together with being on the panel of banks and other lending institutions.

Site Surveys:

Thornes Chartered Surveyors carries out land and site surveys prior to planning permissions being obtained or in connection with such matters as boundary disputes or land problems.

Land and Development :

Our planning department team acts for local and national companies and gives advice on both the suitability of land for development and the type of development which could be obtained and this includes advice with regard to obtaining planning consent and planning advice on potential land. Our service in this area includes the sale of land by auction or subject to planning permission together with outright sale or making representations to the local authorities with regard to the probability of land to be developed and the negotiation of planning 106 agreements. Our planning advisor in this regard deals with small single garden plots up to large developments schemes for both housing and flats development and 'in house applications' can be made where necessary or we work with a number of the well known architectural practices in achieving the planning development required.

Sales of development land can negotiated either by private treaty subject to planning permission and by tender or auction.
